Our 52 weeks of happiness

Rumi

Dearest Rumi,

Happy first birthday, our baby girl!

It might sound like cliche but it feels like yesterday we heard your first cry and held you in our arms.

Thank you our precious ‘Rainbow baby’ for bringing abundant sunshine into our lives.

Well, here’s why we named you — ‘Rumi’.

As immigrant parents, we both wanted a short and sweet name for you, which could be pronounced easily.

So when I was 28 weeks pregnant and reading this novel called 40 Rules of Love by Elif Shafak, I had an epiphany.

I discussed it with your father and after a few back and forth — we decided to name you — Rumi.

Thank goodness Rumi for being such a happy baby since your birth and spreading your contagious smile as soon as you wake up.

I remember since month 1 we focused on your eat-sleep-poop-repeat routine and you adapted it so well.

Infact, I don’t remember we had any sleepless nights.
